Ok… now raise your hand if you curled up with one of these glowing little plastic Mattel creatures too many years ago (and I am guessing you have to be between the ages of about 22-37 right now, for this to apply)… now I wonder if our parents knew these creatures really exist?! THEY DO! And they are actually found in 10’s of 1000’s in the caves of Waitomo (a few hours from Auckland)… it is sooooooooo wild to be slow boating through on the river inside the cave and have the ceiling lit up by too many fluorescent green lights to count… wild! The cave itself is extremely impressive too – it’s tucked into quiet farming country… and if it weren’t for two explorers that happended to be on the river below, when they spotted an opening into what seemed to be a cave - people may still not know that it exists! (***Sorry folks -- there are no pics of the gloworms... you can't photograph them - as a flash will decrease their fluoresence, which they need in order to attract their food -- I sure don't want to hurt these lil' creatures!!***... just imagine black sky filled with tons of little fluroescent green dots as 'stars'!)
