TE PAPA MUSEUM – Wellington
I am soooooooooooo impressed! I am not a big museum visitor, but I do try to take a peek at most museums I cross paths with during my travels… and this one was most certainly top of the list! Filled with regional information in regards to geography, natural events, wildlife, Maori culture, and more art and interactive displays than you could ever appreciate in one day, I was loving being showered with a wealth of information about New Zealand! Even more impressive was all of the different activities they have for kids here – this will be a must-do one day! ;)
Psyched up from my 3-hour experience here, I wandered the cold, dark and rainy streets of Wellington to make it to Main St. and find myself a warm spot for a salad – all I wanted after my time with the boys was vegetables! As luck would have it, I found the ideal spot – Sweet Mother’s Kitchen – and enjoyed a locals’ low-key trendy spot for a funky bowl of veggies! Afterwards I happened to spot a local bus headed for the rail station and jumped aboard to get back to Downtown Backpackers.
Eric (my Magic driver) and I sat at the bar talking for quite a while, and then conversation carried on for me when I met a couple of my dorm-mates upstairs… a pleasant and enjoyable rainy night!
