My journey from Taupo to Wellington would be a fun one – me and the 6 guys! We took turns hooking up our I-pods to the stereo system on the bus, and we took breaks to sample some fantastic treats along the way – including some of the local area’s renowned green-lip mussels and local microbrew. We sort of made up our day as we went along… stopping where we liked and enjoying a coastal drive that took us through towns with Maori names that sparked a pronunciation competition! The names were so complicated that we had to photograph the sign at the entrance and then attempt to say it! Road-trips create all sorts of crazy ideas, right?!
Rolling into Wellington just before the rain, we passed the ferry terminals (for trips to the South Island) and took a quick cruise through town before settling into our hostels for the night.
