As hard as it was for me to leave the precious mountain town of Katoomba and the energizing Blue Mountains of OZ, I had exciting times awaiting me in Sydney... I was reuniting with Amalina & Emily - who I met in Itacare, Brazil in Feb 2006! Our days amongst the beautiful beaches and cobblestone streets as we geared up for Carnaval was the catalyst to long-term friendships! NOW, in Dee Why - North, up the coast, from Sydney... I found myself in Amalina's beautiful home - such a treat! Her sister Mandy and I ventured down to Dee Why beach and enjoyed some coffee and scrumptious desserts as the sunset lit up the surfers within our view. Our conversation kept us there well into the moonlight - allowing us to watch this beautiful orange, harvest-like moon rise up from the horizon to send a glowing strip of light across the ripples of the water, in the exact direction of where we sat... such a beautiful night. AND, our night continued as Amalina returned home from work and had organized a dinner party at the house with friends... including Emily! Our meal and time together was fantastic! After a couple glasses of wine, lots of music, and the start of late-night ping-pong, I knew it was my cue to catch some zzz's (after having woke up super-early in the Blue Mtns to get one last hike around town in before leaving! :) ) The views from the house - and the bedroom Amalina invited me to stay in - were soooooooo reminiscent of Bird Rock & La Jolla, CA... bringing back fantastic memories and a deep, heart-felt serenity associated with the ocean and cliffs.
